Merry meet! Thanks for stopping by to check out my page. As you may know, my name is Megwynne Rebekkah Riverwynd, and I have been High Priestess of the Circle of the Star of Serenity for the past 16 years. This page will give you some information about me (I guess you can call it a "bio" page), and I will try to post some of my favorite things here as well.
About Me:
Twenty-five years ago, I began practicing magick and
Paganism. I can
remember trying to concoct "potions and brews" from a children's storybook
with my childhood friend, Wendy, when
I was about five. For Halloween, it was pure elation when I was able
to wear my "witch" costume two years in a row. Looking back, it seems
I have always been drawn to the Craft.
Although I wasn't aware of it growing up, it turns out that I come from a "psychic" stock. I was surprised to learn that family legend has it premonitions occur to my mother, grandmother, and sister; my aunt can see spirits; and my great-great uncle had the gift of telekinesis and could allegedly levitate things merely by looking at them. I never met him, so I can't say for sure, but that's how the story goes. When I inherited my grandmother's bookshelf (including her books), it was surprising to see all of her 60's and 70's books on aura, telekinesis, premonitions, astral projections, and so forth. Today these books reside in our Coven library.
When I was about thirteen, I began practicing magick. With no one to guide me and having a headstrong teenager's morals, let's just say I think I'm still paying off some kharmic debt. Grin. Since then, I'd like to believe I've grown and learned the meaning of "the Three-Fold Law." For many years, I was a solitary witch. Special thanks to Snow for bringing our first group together back in '93. It made me realize how wonderful and fulfilling practicing with a group can be.
When we first began discussing
our goals for the Coven, I wished for our group to become a "Teaching
Coven." As I had no one to guide me on my path when I first started, I
felt it important the Coven be more open to newcomers and help spread what minor wisdoms
of the Craft the Goddess has granted us... maybe help someone not make the
same "kharmic" mistakes I had made. This has
become one of the major
principles of the Circle of the Star of Serenity, and it continues to be one
of my personal goals.
Now that you know a little about my Pagan background, let me tell you about other aspects of my life. Between us, my ex-husband and I have four children ranging in ages from nineteen to twenty-nine. My hobbies include genealogy, reading, and scrapbooking. I am an avid reader who enjoys many different kinds of genres -- everything from fantasy/sci fi to true crime to historical novels and beyond. Some of my favorites are the Incarnations series by Piers Anthony, Swan Song by Robert McCammon, and The Girl With the Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier. Like everyone else, I enjoy True Blood, the Sookie Stackhouse novels, and also the Twilight series as well.
My latest passion, though, is photography. You can often find me off on a photo shoot, and my daughter, Efthalia, has frequently been my subject. Special thanks to her for putting up with me and my "odd" photo ideas!
